About us:

Network of Botanic Gardens in Lombardy

The Botanic Gardens of Bergamo, Bormio, Milano Brera, Milano Cascina Rosa, Pavia, Romagnese (PV) and Toscolano Maderno (BS) joined together in December 2002 to form the Network of Botanic Gardens in Lombardy in order to share and add value to our experience, to stimulate and facilitate communication with the public and among ourselves. This all came about after the conference "Le Reti locali degli Orti botanici: il caso della Lombardia", held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Orto Botanico di Bergamo on 3rd and 4th October, 2002.

While retaining our autonomy and specific interests in all situations, acting as a network facilitates the acquisition of resources for individual and joint activities and allows us to work in many of the areas in which we are involved: projects and strategies for conservation, knowledge and techniques of cultivation, the management and presentation of plant collections, teaching and spreading botanical and environmental notions and training personnel.
